Everything here is engraved after you order it. Your words get cut into the metal — not printed on top — so they don't fade, and so we can't undo them. Two minutes on this page saves the most common disappointment we see.
Read your spelling twice
This is the whole guide, really. The single most common problem with personalized jewelry isn't quality or shipping — it's a name spelled the way you type it at eleven at night rather than the way it's spelled on a birth certificate.
Type it, walk away, come back and read it once more before you check out. Catherine and Catherine are not the same, and neither are Ashleigh, Ashley and Ashlee.
Shorter reads better
On a small piece, fewer characters means bigger, clearer letters. Cramming a full sentence onto a disc the width of a dime gives you a full sentence you can't read.
What works: a first name. A date. Two initials. A verse reference like "Joshua 1:9". A single word that means something.
What usually doesn't: a full verse, a full sentence, several names on one piece, or a long date written out in words.
Several names? Use several pieces
Three children's names on one pendant reads as clutter. Three pendants with one name each, worn together on the same chain, reads as deliberate — and you can add a fourth later without starting again.
That's why our mother's set is built the way it is.
Dates
Numerals fit better than words. 06.14.19 fits comfortably where "June 14th 2019" often won't. Decide whether you want month-first or day-first before you type it, and keep it consistent if you're ordering more than one.
Coordinates
Search the place in Google Maps, right-click the exact spot, and the numbers appear. Paste them in as shown and we'll format them. Four decimal places lands on a building; six lands on a doorway.
Capitals, punctuation and symbols
Standard letters, numbers, full stops and hyphens are safe everywhere. Accented characters, ampersands and emoji vary by piece — if your text needs one, email us before you order rather than hoping.
We engrave exactly what you type, including the capitalisation. If you type it in all capitals, that's what you'll get.
If it goes wrong
If the engraving doesn't match what you typed, that's on us — send a photo and we'll remake it, no return needed.
If what you typed was wrong, tell us anyway. We'll remake it once at our cost. We'd rather you wore it than filed it in a drawer.
